There is growing belief that the New England Patriots will hold on to backup quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo rather than acquire assets by trading him.

Though Tom Brady has expressed a desire to play long into his 40s, the Patriots aren't expected to trade Garoppolo, according to ESPN's Ed Werder. He cited talk from the Patriots - and those familiar with their approach - during Super Bowl week.

It was previously reported that New England was open to trading the third-year pro one year before he hits free agency, and that Garoppolo would draw a considerable amount of suitors. The Chicago Bears and Cleveland Browns are among the teams with a need at quarterback that were expected to be in the running for the 25-year-old.
