Devonta Freeman wants to be a Falcon 'forever'

While Devonta Freeman's agent wants to make sure his client is paid handsomely for his services, the Atlanta Falcons running back may be alright with taking a hometown discount.

Freeman is set to become a free agent after the 2017 season and is expected to be in negotiations for an extension this offseason.

The 24-year-old hopes to be with the Falcons "forever."

"I want to end my career here," Freeman said last week, according to SB Nation's Jeanna Thomas. "I love the atmosphere. I love the brotherhood. I love the people, the community I stay in, the malls, the restaurants, the food - I love everything about Atlanta. I want to be here."

Freeman set a new career high in rushing yards with 1,079 in 2016 and matched his 2015 rushing touchdown total of 11. He says that despite their Super Bowl collapse, the success Atlanta experienced in 2016 is driving him to bring the city it's first Lombardi Trophy.

"The energy (the fans) brought to the Dome and stuff when we played at home," said Freeman. "Even when we played away games, and we got a lot of support from the fans after we lost the Super Bowl, thanking us and stuff like that.

"So it sucks, because we - I wanted to do it for them. I want to win for myself, too, but this city deserves a Super Bowl, man."
