Jack Del Rio's reward for leading the Oakland Raiders to the playoffs for the first time since 2002 is a brand new four-year contract.

Team owner Mark Davis said in a statement Friday that the team has "torn up Jack Del Rio's original contract and rewarded him with a new four-year deal."

Del Rio was initially signed to a four-year deal in 2015. After the Raiders posted a 3-13 mark in 2014, Del Rio led the team to an improvement of four wins. This year, Oakland led the AFC West for much of the season and finished the year 12-4 with a playoff position.

"We are excited to continue building on the strong foundation that has been established and this is a significant step in achieving that goal," Davis said.
