McVay happy for Shanahan, disappointed he landed in same division

A new rivalry is brewing in the NFC West.

While the Seattle Seahawks and Arizona Cardinals tussle for division supremacy, the Los Angeles Rams and San Francisco 49ers added two of the brightest and youngest minds in football to their teams this offseason.

The Rams will be led by the youngest coach in NFL history, 31-year-old Sean McVay, and the 49ers recently introduced 37-year-old Kyle Shanahan as their new head coach.

McVay spoke to the media on Friday and said he shared some kind words with his new counterpart.

"I can't tell you how happy I am for you," McVay said to Shanahan, according to Alden Gonzalez of ESPN, "but I can't believe I have to see you twice a year."

The duo represent a distinct departure from their predecessors, Jeff Fisher and Chip Kelly.
