Report: 49ers interviewing Henderson, Saleh for DC job

The San Francisco 49ers are interviewing Atlanta Falcons assistant Jerome Henderson in regard to the club's defensive coordinator vacancy Friday morning, ESPN's Vaughn McClure reports, citing a source.

Henderson, a longtime defensive backs coach, joined the Falcons last offseason as the defensive passing game coordinator.

His familiarity with Kyle Shanahan, who's taking over as 49ers head coach after two years as Atlanta's offensive coordinator, presumably makes Henderson a strong candidate for the lead defensive role in San Francisco.

San Francisco is also interviewing Los Angeles Chargers linebackers coach Robert Saleh on Friday, and it's possible the two could be brought aboard as co-defensive coordinators, sources told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Along with Henderson and Saleh, previous reports indicated that New England Patriots linebackers coach Brian Flores was among those in the mix for the opening on Shanahan's new-look staff.
