Kansas City Chiefs general manager John Dorsey voiced his support for two of the star players on his roster as he addressed the media Thursday.

On the topic of quarterback Alex Smith, whom some in the media have suggested should be replaced by the Chiefs, Dorsey reiterated that no move is imminent.

"We've said all along he's the starter," Dorsey said, according to ESPN's Adam Teicher.

Dorsey refused to answer a question about the chances of the Chiefs acquiring Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo.

Another veteran player the Chiefs could decide to part ways with this offseason is running back Jamaal Charles, who missed most of the 2016 season with knee woes related to a torn ACL.

"He's working like the dickens to get himself ready for '17. We'll see what happens in March, but right now I see him as a Chief," Dorsey said of Charles, according to Terez A. Paylor of The Kansas City Star.

Dorsey also suggested the team may find a way to retain both safety Eric Berry and defensive lineman Dontari Poe, two impending free agents who should command top dollar.
