Jones to wait until next month to make decision on toe surgery

Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Julio Jones will take a month to evaluate whether he needs surgery on his injured toe.

Jones fended off the injury throughout the playoffs, steering the Falcons to Super Bowl LI. The All-Pro caught four passes for 87 yards during the overtime loss to the New England Patriots.

Entering the offseason, Jones said he'll need to consult his doctor before making a decision whether to undergo surgery.

"I don't know yet," Jones said to ESPN's Vaughn McClure. "I just have to follow up with the doctor to see. That will be next month. ... Just relaxing right now, just seeing if I have to have surgery or not. Not trying to press to go have surgery right away. I'm just waiting right now, just see if it heals up and just see what happens."

Jones incurred the injury in a Dec. 4 game against the Kansas City Chiefs, and missed two games as a result. However, Jones fought through the ailment during the playoffs and participated in a limited fashion during practice, leading up to the Super Bowl.
