Report: NFL praises Beckham's attitude at Pro Bowl

After a season in which his maturity was questioned, Odell Beckham Jr. reportedly received what is the equivalent of a gold star for his professionalism during Pro Bowl week.

NFL executive vice president Troy Vincent sent a letter to commissioner Roger Goodell praising the New York Giants star receiver's attitude and engagement with fans, multiple sources told Jordan Raanan of ESPN.

"I would be remiss not to acknowledge how engaging and professional Odell Beckham Jr. was during the entire week of the Pro Bowl," Vincent wrote in the letter obtained by ESPN. "By far and away, he represented the New York Football Giants and the NFL with great poise, congeniality, and professionalism."

The letter was also reportedly sent to Giants owner John Mara, general manager Jerry Reese, head coach Ben McAdoo, director of player development David Tyree, and Beckham's agent, Zeke Sandhu.

Beckham was called out for being a distraction by McAdoo and quarterback Eli Manning after the young wideout's series of emotional reactions during games.

He was also among the league leaders in fines this season, including infractions for ripping officials after games and allegedly punching a hole in a wall at Lambeau Field after the Giants' divisional-round defeat.

But Vincent lauded Beckham's work at the All-Star event, writing that his efforts were "extraordinary."

"Odell single-handedly took our engagement to a higher level," Vincent wrote to the Giants. "You should be proud to have him representing your club and your city at the Pro Bowl and I didn't want to go another day without writing to acknowledge his extraordinary efforts."
