Four months after being diagnosed with a concussion, Carolina Panthers left tackle Michael Oher has still not passed the league's protocol, a source told Joseph Person of the Charlotte Observer.

Oher has begun working out, notes Person, but the length of time he's spent in the protocol is a concern.

The 30-year-old started the first three games of this past season, but missed the remainder after informing the Panthers of his symptoms prior to Week 4.

The Panthers said they weren't sure when Oher sustained the concussion, but Person added that another source said it was likely before the Week 3 game against the Minnesota Vikings.

Oher gave up three sacks during that contest.

General manager Dave Gettleman was non-committal when asked about Oher's future.

"I haven't spoken to Michael in a little bit. I haven't texted with him in a little bit. I want to back off and leave him alone. Because we want what's best for Michael, really and truly," Gettleman said this week.
