Manziel: I quit Twitter to focus on bettering myself

Kim Klement / USA TODAY Sports

Former NFL quarterback Johnny Manziel tweeted some advice to President Donald Trump on Monday, then hours later deleted his account.

Manziel suggested Trump "stay away from the notifications section," adding, "lead the country and let them hate."

TMZ contacted Manziel, who said he quit Twitter so he can focus on self-improvement.

"Twitter has been nothing but a distraction for me. I've said all I can say," Manziel responded.

"Now I need to shut the hell up and work on bettering myself and my situation."

Manziel said recently that he is sober (and got there without any professional help) and is seeking another shot at playing in the NFL.
