Gurley: Second season in NFL 'was a nightmare'

Los Angeles Rams running back Todd Gurley didn't particularly enjoy his sophomore season in the NFL.

"It was a nightmare," was how Gurley described the campaign to DIRECTV's Rich Eisen on Tuesday.

Gurley rushed for 1,106 yards and 10 touchdowns in 13 games played as a rookie in 2015, earning Offensive Rookie of the Year honors.

Then the Rams relocated to Los Angeles, spent the first overall pick on quarterback Jared Goff, opted to start Case Keenum over Goff for much of the season, and yet again failed to assemble a good offensive line.

Gurley's stats suffered for those reasons, and probably some of his own failings, too, and he finished his sophomore year with 885 yards rushing and six touchdowns.

Gurley's 3.18 yards per attempt was the second lowest in the league among players with at least 50 rushing attempts.

Until the Rams improve their offensive line and get more production out of their passing game, Gurley's life probably won't get any easier.
