Johnny Manziel says he's sober and he got there all on his own.

The former NFL quarterback told ESPN's Ed Werder that he achieved sobriety without any professional help.

In 2015, Manziel spent time in a rehab facility.

Manziel tweeted this week that he got "lost in the sauce" in 2016 and was not a good person. He pledged to learn from his mistakes and become a better person.

The 24-year-old told Werder that he wants another shot at playing in the NFL. If he maintains his sobriety, it's possible a team will bring him in for a workout.

However, should a team do so, it will be with the knowledge that Manziel has a personal conduct case pending with the NFL.
