Brandon Marshall: 'I've probably been underpaid the last 6 years'

Despite being covered in green the last two seasons, New York Jets receiver Brandon Marshall hasn't seen enough of his favorite color lately.

According to spotrac.com, Marshall has made more than $67.5 million over the past six seasons, but the receiver isn't satisfied with his earnings.

"I’ve probably been underpaid the last six years, if we’re really about comparing production to receivers across the league and what I’ve been doing," Marshall told WFAN radio Wednesday, according to Cameron DaSilva of FOX SPORTS. "Now, when you only catch 50-something balls for over 700 yards and you’re 30-something years old, that’s when teams come to you like, ‘We don’t think you’re good anymore.'"

Marshall is set to earn $7.5 million on his current deal next season - the last year of the contract - with no dead cap money. Many have postulated the 32-year-old receiver could be cut or be forced to renegotiate his contract, but he thinks he's worth every penny.

"People need to get away from me due $7.5 million," Marshall said. "Get away from my salary. That’s underpaid. Any team should be happy to have me for $7.5 million."

The annual average value of Marshall's contract ($8.67 million) ranks him 17th among league receivers, but his 2016 stats don't match up the value. The 11-year veteran had his worst season since being a rookie in 2016, finishing with 59 catches for 788 yards and three touchdowns.
