Clemson loses co-DC Hobby to Jacksonville Jaguars

Clemson's defense will have a different look when they try to repeat as national champions in 2017, as co-defensive coordinator and defensive end coach Marion Hobby has left to take a job with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

"Marion Hobby is an excellent coach who breeds success and comes from a winning culture," Jaguars Executive Vice-President of Football Operations Tom Coughlin said in a statement. "In recent years, Marion has overseen the development of top-tier players who are currently experiencing success at the highest level in the National Football League."

Clemson's defense finished the 2016 season ranked 10th in the country, allowing just 18 points per game, with its best performance in the Fiesta Bowl shutout of Ohio State.

Losing Hobby is certainly a blow to the Tigers, but with Dabo Swinney able to retain co-defensive coordinator Brent Venables, it should be another strong unit in 2017.
