Report: NFL investigating Le'Veon Bell's undisclosed injury

Jay Biggerstaff / USA TODAY Sports

The NFL will look into the Pittsburgh Steelers' failure to list running back Le'Veon Bell's groin injury on the injury report prior to last weekend's AFC Championship Game against the New England Patriots, a league official told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Head coach Mike Tomlin admitted that the team knew about the injury that sidelined Bell during the game, but said it wasn't significant.

This comes on the heels of a similar investigation into the Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman.

Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll revealed after the season that Sherman had played half the year with an MCL injury, but was never listed on the injury report with that ailment. Seattle is reportedly in danger of losing as much as a second-round pick as punishment.

The league requires every significant injury to be listed on the injury report, even if a player fully participates in practice.

Bell missed four out of nine practices in a three-week span with a non-injury designation.
