Rodgers' father opens up about estranged relationship

Ed Rodgers, the father of Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, spoke about his family's rift with his son in a profile written by Karen Crouse of The New York Times.

Tyler Dunne of Bleacher Report posted a long-form profile of Rodgers in November, stating that the two-time MVP hasn't talked to members of his immediate family in two years.

The quarterback shook off the controversy and led the Packers to the NFC Championship Game, in the midst of an eight-game winning streak.

After months of silence, Rodgers' father confirmed that their relationship isn't on good terms.

"Fame can change things," Ed Rodgers said.

"Airing public laundry is not what I would have chosen,” he added. “It’s good to have it all come out.”

Dunne's profile led to plenty of public scrutiny towards the quarterback, but some allegations proved to be unfounded.

With the younger Rodgers on the verge of his second Super Bowl appearance, his father believes there could be a reconciliation.

"It's complicated,” Ed Rodgers said. "We're all hoping for the best."
