Ravens owner: 'We need to get more' from Joe Flacco

The Baltimore Ravens pay Joe Flacco like a franchise quarterback, but it's been some time since he's played like one.

While Flacco posted career highs in yards and completion percentage in 2016, he also averaged 6.4 yards per pass and threw just 20 touchdowns to 15 interceptions. Numbers that are a far cry from other quarterbacks who also earn around Flacco's $22 million per year.

Speaking on Tuesday alongside head coach John Harbaugh and general manager Ozzie Newsome, Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti said the team needs Flacco to be better.

"We need to get more out of Joe. I think Joe would agree with that," Bisciotti said, according to ESPN's Jamison Hensley.

After making the playoffs in each one of Harbaugh's five years in charge, Baltimore has now missed the postseason in three of the last four seasons.

The Ravens improved from 5-11 in 2015 to 8-8 in 2016 and had a chance to win the AFC North late in the season. But despite this, many have called for changes to either the coaching staff or the front office.

"I didn't get where I was by just firing people," Bisciotti said, according to Jeff Zrebiec of the Baltimore Sun. "I think it's a bad model, especially in this business."

Asked if it's do-or-die for Harbaugh next season, Bisciotti responded, "All I can tell you is I trust my partners," according to Zrebiec.
