Wilson sheds knee brace vs. Lions

Troy Wayrynen / USA TODAY Sports

Russell Wilson has shed his brace.

The Seattle Seahawks quarterback said before Saturday's wild-card game against the Detroit Lions that he was contemplating playing without the knee brace he has sported for the majority of the season.

Indeed, when the Seahawks took the field Saturday, Wilson was brace-less.

It will be interesting to see how it affects Wilson's rushing ability. Largely due to a sprained ankle he suffered in Week 1 and a sprained MCL suffered in Week 3 (which necessitated the use of a brace), Wilson rushed for a career-low 259 yards on the season.

With the brace off, Wilson will be at an increased risk of injury, but could have greatly improved mobility.
