O'Brien announces Osweiler will start in divisional round after win over Raiders

Quarterback Brock Osweiler's performance in Saturday's wild-card win over the Oakland Raiders was enough to ensure he will remain starter next week.

Head coach Bill O'Brien announced after the game that Osweiler will start in the divisional round.

Tom Savage was named starter ahead of Osweiler late in the regular season and was the team's presumed playoff starter before suffering a concussion in Week 17.

Even if Savage is cleared, Osweiler will start for next weekend's game against either the New England Patriots or Kansas City Chiefs.

Osweiler was impressive, if unspectacular, in leading the Texans to a win Saturday, finishing 14-of-25 passing for 168 yards and a touchdown. He also rushed six times for 15 yards and a touchdown.

The Texans gave Osweiler a $72-million contract in free agency last spring, but benched their big-money man in Week 15 after several weeks of ineffectiveness.
