The Tennessee Titans have promoted general manager Jon Robinson, adding the title of executive vice president to his current responsibilities after achieving their first winning season since 2011.

Robinson helped triple the Titans' 2015 win total in his first season as GM, with several of his key acquisitions playing major roles in his debut campaign. DeMarco Murray finished with 1,287 rushing yards after being acquired via trade and free-agent signee Rishard Matthews led the team in yards, catches, and receiving touchdowns.

"Jon has done great work since his arrival to our organization and this is a way to recognize that fact," Titans controlling owner Amy Adams Strunk said Thursday. "His leadership and football acumen helped change our culture and improve our team.

"He and (head coach) Mike (Mularkey) deserve a great deal of credit for our turnaround this year and I am hopeful that will continue this coming year and into the future. This is an acknowledgement of his work and it puts him on equal footing with others in the league who direct football operations."
