Report: David Johnson suffered meniscus damage, ACL intact

Kelvin Kuo / USA TODAY Sports

David Johnson has reportedly avoided a significant long-term injury.

Initial tests showed that Johnson suffered damage to the meniscus in his left knee during Sunday's game against the Los Angeles Rams, but his ACL is intact, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Johnson will undergo an MRI on Monday to confirm the injury.

While meniscus damage is far from ideal, it appears to be the best-case scenario for Johnson after what was a scary-looking injury.

It should mean the second-year runner will be healthy for the start of the team's offseason program, which almost certainly wouldn't have been the case had he injured his ACL.

Johnson has lived up to the hype after an impressive rookie campaign, rushing for 1,239 yards, catching 80 passes for 879 yards, and scoring 20 total touchdowns.
