Romo to see snaps with starters in regular-season finale

Richard Rowe / US PRESSWIRE

Tony Romo will have some starters by his side as he gets a brief tune-up session for the playoffs.

The Dallas Cowboys are planning to get the veteran quarterback snaps with the first-team offense to close out the season against the Philadelphia Eagles, owner Jerry Jones confirmed.

"I think it's good." Jones said pregame, according to Jon Machota of the team's official website. "He's excited and that excites me."

Dak Prescott will make another start before being pulled in favor of Romo, and the veteran should only see work on a few series before Mark Sanchez finishes out the game.

There had been some relative uncertainty about the plan with Romo throughout the week, and things could always change depending on how the game goes.

In the Cowboys' efforts to have Romo avoid injury, playing behind a strong offensive line will help in keeping him upright in the pocket.

Running the offense for a few drives this week will be important for Romo in the event he needs to step in at some point during the playoffs. The 36-year-old hasn't played in a regular-season game since last November.
