DeMarcus Ware to undergo surgery on ruptured disk

Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY Sports / Reuters

Denver Broncos defensive end DeMarcus Ware will undergo surgery Friday to repair a ruptured disk in his back, head coach Gary Kubiak confirmed Thursday, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Ware was placed on injured reserve Wednesday, and there's no timetable for his return.

The nine-time Pro Bowler, who recorded 15 tackles and four sacks in 10 games this season, is one of the greatest defensive players of his generation, and some have speculated this may end his illustrious career.
