Fitzpatrick plans to be back in 2017, but not with Jets

Ryan Fitzpatrick may be done with the New York Jets, but he's not ready to hang up the pads altogether.

The 12-year veteran will start his 27th game in two seasons for the Jets this week and told media Wednesday that he expects it to be his last with the team. Fitzpatrick's contract voids after the season, but he plans to continue his career elsewhere.

"I still enjoy playing. I still like being out there and competing," Fitzpatrick said Wednesday, via ESPN's Rich Cimini. "As long as I enjoy doing it, then I'll keep doing it."

Fitzpatrick expressed disappointment with his performance this season after notching 31 touchdowns the year before. The Harvard product had just 10 passing scores and threw 17 interceptions in 2016, while winning just two of his ten starts.

"Yeah, I would say this has been the most difficult just in terms of the expectations I had for myself, for the team, for all of those things," said Fitzpatrick. "For me to not meet some of that stuff definitely has been difficult."
