Sherman threatens to stop holding press conferences; calls them 'a privilege'

Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman elected not to hold a press conference Wednesday, but stated that his media availability is a privilege for reporters.

Sherman threatened to revoke a reporter's credentials last week and apologized after the fact. The four-time Pro Bowler said Wednesday he's considering opting out of weekly press conferences permanently.

"I'll think about it. It's a privilege, for me to go up there, you know. Not everybody appreciates it like you do," Sherman said via Gregg Bell of The News Tribune.

"I'm just going to make sure that people, you know, it's a privilege to have me up there. So, (you're) gonna miss me when I'm gone."

Sherman was irate over the team's decision to throw from the 1-yard line during a Week 15 victory over the Los Angeles Rams and needed to be restrained on the sidelines after screaming at the coaching staff. The star cornerback revealed head coach Pete Carroll held a meeting, but refused to disclose the details.

With the NFC West title wrapped up, Sherman will likely let cooler heads prevail as the team aims to capture their second Super Bowl.
