Cowboys' Prescott: 'We want to be the new triplets'

Dallas Cowboys rookie quarterback Dak Prescott believes his franchise is following its previous formula for sustained greatness.

Troy Aikman, Emmitt Smith, and Michael Irvin commandeered the Cowboys to three Super Bowl wins in the 1990s, and Prescott hopes to replicate those golden years alongside fellow rookie Ezekiel Elliott and receiver Dez Bryant.

"We want to live up to those expectations I guess, filling those shoes you could say," Prescott said in an interview that aired prior to Monday Night Football.

"We want to be great, we want to be the new triplets, the Cowboys of the 90s, winning Super Bowls and doing all of that. But we just have to stay focused, take it one day at a time one year at a time. That's a long time away - we're talking at the end of our careers."

Prescott is nearly through of one of the best regular seasons by a rookie quarterback in NFL history, completing 68.1 percent of his passes for 3,630 yards and 23 touchdowns against just four interceptions. Boasting a dominant offensive line, along with Elliott and Bryant, the 13-2 Cowboys have secured home-field advantage throughout the NFC playoffs.

Prescott and Elliott have already been named to this season's Pro Bowl, and there's little to suggest that Prescott's bold declaration won't come true.
