The Cincinnati Bengals reportedly shut down receiver A.J. Green for the rest of the season and it appears they will do the same with their star tight end.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport arrived at the conclusion that Tyler Eifert will likely be held out of the team's final two games as well as he battles a back injury he picked up last week. He has already been declared out for Saturday's game against the Houston Texans.

Eifert has had a trying 2016 season. After injuring his ankle in last year's Pro Bowl, he's appeared in just eight games, starting two, and has hauled in 394 yards for five touchdowns.

Eifert enters the final year of his contract next year, one that will pay him $4.7 million, costing the Bengals a cap hit of the same monetary value.
