Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson has been ruled out of Saturday's game against the Green Bay Packers, a week after returning from a meniscus injury.

Peterson is still dealing with the effects of his knee injury, as well as a groin issue he picked up more recently.

Last week, in his first game action since Week 2, Peterson rushed for 22 yards on six carries, adding one catch for one yard and lost a fumble.

Peterson suggested during his injury absence that he would return to play as long as the Vikings were in playoff contention, but hinted that he might sit out if the team had been eliminated.

The Vikings remain alive in the playoff hunt, but their hopes of qualifying for the postseason are very slim.

Among the players listed as questionable to play against the Packers are safety Harrison Smith and wideout Stefon Diggs.
