Goff clears concussion protocol, will start vs. 49ers

Kirby Lee / USA TODAY Sports

Los Angeles Rams quarterback Jared Goff has cleared the NFL's concussion protocol and will start Saturday against the San Francisco 49ers, interim head coach John Fassel announced.

Goff suffered a concussion in last Thursday's loss to the Seattle Seahawks after getting hit by cornerback Richard Sherman.

The first overall pick returned to practice, but needed final clearance from an independent neurologist before getting the go-ahead to play this weekend.

Aside from pride, getting Goff as many meaningful snaps as possible and watching his development is one of the only things the Rams still have to play for.
