Rams' Goff in concussion protocol after hit from Sherman

Los Angeles Rams quarterback Jared Goff is in the league's concussion protocol, interim head coach John Fassel announced, according to ProFootballTalk's Zac Jackson.

Goff was forced from Thursday night's game against the Seattle Seahawks after taking a huge hit from cornerback Richard Sherman while running toward the end zone. The rookie passer chose not to slide or run out of bounds and Sherman made him pay for that decision.

Goff's run was ultimately called back due to a holding penalty and the negated play ended up being his last snap of the evening.

After the game, Sherman took exception to the way the rookie ran with the ball.

"There was a little disrespect in his running style," Sherman said, according to Dan Hellie of NFL Network. "He was acting like he was getting a freebie to the end zone."

"I admire his courage," Fassel admitted of Goff. "But he has to get out of bounds."

Case Keenum took over the offense in Goff's absence, but was unable to affect the outcome as the score remained 24-3 until the final whistle.

Prior to exiting, Goff completed 13-of-25 passes for 135 yards, but had absorbed five sacks on the night and failed to lead the Rams on a touchdown drive.
