Josh Norman felt 'almost stabbed in the back' by Panthers

The Washington Redskins face the Carolina Panthers on Monday Night Football, and so cornerback Josh Norman is this week's main feature.

The former Panther signed with the Redskins this offseason after Carolina rescinded the franchise tag deal they had offered him.

"It almost felt like I was stabbed in the back," Norman told Charlotte-area reporters in a conference call on Thursday, according to Lorenzo Reyes of USA Today.

The one-year, franchise tag deal would have paid Norman $13.9 million. The offer sat on the table for much of the offseason until the Panthers pulled it on April 30. Norman admitted to being blindsided by the move and even hired a new agent in the aftermath.

"My personality, who I am, probably doesn't fit some people in that atmosphere with (the) Panthers," Norman said. "Here, you can button it down."

Norman took his talents to D.C. and has helped the Redskins to a 7-5-1 record. He's relishing the opportunity to face his former club.

"You guys know me better than anybody else and I'm pretty sure you know how this is going to go down," he said.

"I'm going to come out fighting."
