Bills' LeSean McCoy: Goal-line carries ceded to Gillislee

McCoy's teammate Mike Gillislee is now the team's official goal-line back, BuffaloBills.com reports. Said offensive coordinator Anthony Lynn: "Shady is one of the most explosive backs in the league. He can get a lot of his touchdowns from outside the red zone, but Mike is that decisive, no nonsense type runner that you're looking for inside the three, two-yard line. That's his role and everybody in the backfield knows that's his role and he's going to get those touches when we get down there. And Shady is good with that."

Analysis:

This is the one knock on McCoy's value, in that he's been doing great work all season but frequently sits out the final plunge plays of a drive. This won't knock McCoy's overall production too much, as the situation has been going on for a while anyway -- unofficially, at least -- and he does have 10 total touchdowns on the season. Still, it's an issue that some of the league's top fantasy backs don't have to deal with, though in fairness to the Bills, Gillislee has been money on short-yardage plays this season, and why not save McCoy's health if it can be helped?
