The Cleveland Browns have signed cornerback Jamar Taylor to a three-year contract extension, the team announced Saturday.

Official terms of the deal weren't disclosed, but the new agreement will be worth a total of $15 million, NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reports, citing a source.

A second-round pick of the Miami Dolphins in 2013, Taylor first landed with the Browns in a draft weekend trade this past spring.

His struggles across three seasons in Miami allowed the Browns to bring him aboard for a mere swap of seventh-round selections, and the Boise State product has since emerged as a reliable contributor in the secondary.

The three-year extension allows Cleveland to keep him off the free-agent market in March and under team control through the 2019 campaign.

Taylor has started in 10 of his 11 appearances in his first season with the Browns, recording 40 tackles, two interceptions, and eight passes defensed.
