Vikings' Zimmer cleared to fly with team to Jacksonville

Minnesota Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer has been cleared to fly with the team to Jacksonville after undergoing emergency eye surgery to repair a detached retina last Wednesday.

After the procedure, Zimmer was considering driving to Florida for Sunday's game against the Jaguars, as he was unsure if the eye would heal in time for him to be able to make the team flight.

"We're not talking about injuries," he jokingly told reporters Friday, Eric Smith of Vikings.com wrote.

Zimmer missed one game due to the procedure. While he'll be back with the team for its Week 14 game, he has yet to decide if he'll coach from the sidelines or the press box.

"I don't know. I'm not going to worry about it," he said. "The doctor just doesn't want me to get hit. That's all. So, we'll be OK."
