Panthers waive Robert McClain

The Carolina Panthers are making some changes to address their continued struggles in the secondary.
Despite a clear lack of depth at the position, Carolina announced Friday that the team has waived veteran cornerback Robert McClain.
McClain, a fifth-year veteran who started against the Denver Broncos in last season's Super Bowl appearance, was also with the first-team defense for six of his 11 appearances in 2016.
His release pushes Leonard Johnson into the full-time nickel role, rounding out the club's top three cornerbacks alongside base starters James Bradberry and Daryl Worley.
Linebacker Ben Jacobs was signed in a corresponding roster move.
