Packers' Clay Matthews: Limited Thursday

Matthews (shoulder) was limited at Thursday's practice, Michael Cohen of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Analysis:

Expected to sit out both Wednesday and Thursday this week, Matthews instead got the thumbs up for some work from the training staff. As defensive coordinator Dom Capers mentioned to Ryan Wood of the Green Bay Press-Gazette on Thursday, Matthews is "heading in the right direction getting his full strength back" in his left shoulder. The closer Matthews approaches 100 percent, the more he'll be able to contribute to a banged-up corps of linebackers. At the very least, though, he appears as if he'll enter the field in obvious passing downs, especially with the team's sack leader, Nick Perry, sidelined with multiple broken fingers.
