Report: Patriots to sign Griff Whalen amid numerous injuries

The New England Patriots are signing wide receiver Griff Whalen, a source told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
Tight end Rob Gronkowski and wide receiver Danny Amendola are out indefinitely due to injuries, and Whalen will complement the team's depleted receiving core.
Whalen was released by the San Diego Chargers on Nov. 22. The 26-year-old is best known for his stint with the Indianapolis Colts, spending the first four seasons of his career with the team.
