Jets to place Mangold on IR

The New York Jets will place center Nick Mangold on injured reserve, the team confirmed.
Mangold has battled an ankle injury for more than a month and visited a specialist Thursday for a second opinion. It seems that opinion is that he should not play again this season.
The veteran could require surgery, the Jets announced.
Mangold is set to earn $8.475 million next season in the final year of his deal with the Jets. He is a candidate for release or restructuring.
