Report: 'Toxic' relationship between Rams' Fisher, Snead

Los Angeles Rams head coach Jeff Fisher's recent assertion that he was unaware of the two-year extension signed by general manager Les Snead is an indication of a schism between the two, Albert Breer of The MMQB reports.

"I'm so busy here, I was honestly unaware (Snead) was extended," said Fisher, who also received a two-year extension earlier this season.

Fisher then claimed the Rams' 4-8 record this season is his fault before seeming to throw Snead under the bus.

"I look at this as being my responsibility, the win-loss record. We need to do a better job from a personnel standpoint. We've had some unfortunate things take place with some high picks in Stedman Bailey and Tre Mason and those kinds of things you don’t anticipate."

One Rams source told Breer they are unhappy with Fisher's comments.

"It pissed me off because I knew it was meant as a shot," said the source. "You see it under that umbrella - 'We need to do a better job in personnel.' OK, but you want everyone to think that you have full control. You can’t have it both ways, and it can’t always be the talent. Look at the roster, 2012 to now. In '12, Jeff did a masterful job with what he was given. But we've gotten more talent, and we've gotten worse."

Breer compared Fisher and Snead's "toxic" relationship to that of Jim Harbaugh and Trent Baalke while Harbaugh was employed by the San Francisco 49ers, a relationship that proved irreconcilable.

Breer notes that unless the Rams finish this season on a high note, both Fisher and Snead could lose their jobs despite their recent contract extensions.
