Buccaneers' Adam Humphries: Confirmed to be in concussion protocol

Head coach Dirk Koetter confirmed that Humphries is officially in the NFL concussion protocol, Jenna Laine of ESPN.com reports.

Analysis:

The second-year receiver took a helmet-to-helmet hit on Sunday and will therefore be monitored closely throughout the week leading up Sunday's pivotal Week 14 battle against the Saints. With fellow wideout Cecil Shorts also having suffered a devastating, season-ending knee injury against the Chargers, the Bucs are reportedly considering practice squad wideouts Josh Huff and Donteea Dye to fill what might be two open positions for the coming week. Humphries' status figures to become much clearer throughout the practice week, but regardless of what new pass catchers may be brought into the fold, incumbents Russell Shepard and Freddie Martino could be the biggest beneficiaries of his potential absence in Week 14.
