Tampa Bay Buccaneers receiver Cecil Shorts suffered what must surely rank among the worst injuries in NFL history on Sunday.

Shorts was hit in the knee making a catch, and told ESPN's Britt McHenry that he dislocated his knee and tore his ACL, MCL, and PCL on the play.

The hit didn't necessarily look worse than dozens of others that occur on NFL fields every Sunday, which perhaps should be viewed as a reminder of just how dangerous the sport of football is.

Shorts indicated he plans on rehabbing his injuries and returning to the field.
