Washington Redskins head coach Jay Gruden tore into his team following a 31-23 loss to the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday.

Gruden could be heard laying into his players through the locker-room walls, John Keim of ESPN reports.

"This is the hottest I've ever seen him," defensive end Chris Baker told Keim. "He has every right to be as mad as he is because we're too good for this."

The Redskins lost to the previously four-win Cardinals despite having 10 days to prepare for the game.

"I don't like the way we came out," Gruden told reporters. "That's not the way we want to come out of a football game, getting ready for a good team on the road. I don't like the fact that we had two turnovers and we didn't cause any. I don't like the fact we lost the game. It was a good team. Hats off to coach (Bruce) Arians and the Arizona Cardinals, but I feel we underachieved today and that's very frustrating."

The loss - combined with a win by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers later in the afternoon - dropped the Redskins out of a playoff position for the time being. They now sit half a game behind the Bucs for the second wild-card spot.
