Falcons' Mohamed Sanu: Injures groin Sunday

Sanu suffered a groin injury during Sunday's game against the Chiefs, D. Orlando Ledbetter of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

Analysis:

Although the Falcons passed for more yards (297) than the Chiefs typically allow in a game -- 260.5 per game entering Week 13 -- Sanu was nondescript, per usual, gathering in two of three passes for 26 yards. He's actually fallen short of that threshold in four of 12 games this season, so he approached his median performance in his first campaign as a Falcon. Among his teammates, Julio Jones remains the No. 1 option by a mile, both Devonta Freeman and Tevin Coleman are adept receivers, and Taylor Gabriel has come on of late, all of which have combined to push Sanu down the pecking order in the eyes of Matt Ryan. However, with 49 receptions on the year, Sanu is on pace for a career high in the category, meaning he still has some utility.
