Elliott doesn't believe in proverbial rookie wall

Jason Bridge / USA TODAY Sports

Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott looks unstoppable, but with a league-leading 263 rushes in 12 games, it's fair to ask whether it's inevitable the rookie will drop off due to his heavy workload.

Elliott didn't show any signs of wearing down in Thursday's win over the Minnesota Vikings. He rushed for 86 yards on 20 carries, and his day would've been even better if not for a holding call that negated a 43-yard scamper.

If the rookie wall is real, Elliott intends to treat it like a defender one-on-one in space, and hurdle right over it.

"I feel great. I feel excellent," Elliott said postgame on NFL Network, according to Patrik Walker of 247Sports.com. "I don't believe in the rookie wall. I think it's all about being strong mentally. I think the rookie wall is a mentality thing. And I think I've trained myself mentally where I don't have to worry about that."

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said the team isn't worried about over-working Elliott, so it appears the MVP candidate will have the opportunity to prove the rookie wall is indeed a myth.
