Cincinnati Bengals star A.J. Green revealed Friday that he suffered a Grade 2 hamstring tear during a Nov. 20 loss to the Buffalo Bills.

Green was held out of Sunday's loss to the Baltimore Ravens and is almost certain to miss this weekend's contest against the Philadelphia Eagles.

The five-time Pro Bowler spoke candidly about his injury, appearing optimistic about his long-term prognosis.

"Grade II tear - it was 50 percent torn," Green said to ESPN's Katherine Terrell. "But it's not bad, it's not torn off the bone or nothing like that. No surgery needed."

Green is no rush to return to action, focusing on getting back to full health before suiting up again.

"I'm going to play it safe. I want to get back, no matter what kind of season we're having," Green said. "I'm not the type of guy to pack it in. Whenever I'm ready, I'll be ready to go, but I'm not going to rush it and have this as a continuing issue."
