Broncos' defense lament 4th-quarter woes

The Denver Broncos established themselves as one of the best defenses of all time last season, but faced an inevitable slip this year.

Denver squandered a fourth-quarter lead Sunday in a pivotal divisional clash against the Kansas City Chiefs, and numerous players weighed on how to improve down the home stretch.

“We have to be more focused. We’re too lax in those situations. We expect someone to make the play, but we have to expect ourselves to make the play first," T.J. Ward said to Cameron Wolfe of The Denver Post. "It’s not last year’s team, so don’t compare us to last year."

Broncos linebacker Brandon Marshall attributed the loss to being far too nonchalant.

"That was the second game in a row," Marshall said. "I don't want to say we relaxed. I know we're playing more zone at the end of the game. We had a few mental errors, the coverage wasn’t tight enough, we didn’t tackle well."
