49ers' Quinton Patton: Limited Thursday

Patton (concussion) was limited at Thursday's practice, Matt Maiocco of CSN Bay Area reports.

Analysis:

During the drills open to the media, Patton was viewed in a no-contact blue jersey, which typically indicates that some activity is imminent. He still must work his way through the five-step concussion protocol, but the fact he's already on the practice field is generally a good sign in his recovery. Nevertheless, his availability for Sunday's contest in Chicago will depend on the ruling of an independent neurologist.
