Eagles' Agholor 'grateful' for Week 12 benching

After a disappointing start to his second NFL season led to his benching Monday night, Nelson Agholor appears to have gained a little perspective. The Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver told reporters Wednesday that he was "grateful" for being held out of the primetime loss to the Green Bay Packers.

"Some of the things that really stuck out to me was realizing a game that I love, I didn't get a chance to play," Agholor said, according to Zach Berman of Philly.com. "The fact that I didn't get to play that day was an eye opener. You have to make sure you always have fun every opportunity you do have to play."

Agholor, a first-round pick in 2015, managed just 27 receptions for 264 yards and one touchdown prior to the decision to make him a healthy scratch.

While it remains to be seen whether he'll have a chance to redeem himself in Sunday's game against the Cincinnati Bengals, the uncertain injury status of fellow wideout Jordan Matthews could push him back into the lineup.

Be it this week, or at some point down the stretch, the USC product will be itching to make the most of any such opportunity.

"I wanted to ... play against the Green Bay Packers as a kid," Agholor said. "Seeing that I wasn't in that game reminded me that it was an opportunity that was given to me by hard work and preparation. I have to enjoy those moments every time I'm on the field."
