Bills' Shaq Lawson: More PT in store

Lawson, who saw 21 defensive snaps in Sunday's win over the Bengals, is set to see more playing time, BuffaloBills.com reports. Said coach Rex Ryan, "I feel really good about him. He's going to get more playing time as we go. He made that tackle for loss last week and kind of hurt his thumb and it bothered him during the game or he would've played more. I've been pleased with him. We'll look at point production per play and he may be number one on our team with the plays that he's had. So that's a real good sign."

Analysis:

Lawson still doesn't have a starting job and the increase in snaps is likely to come at the expense of veteran Lorenzo Alexander, whom the Bills would like to keep fresh because he's on the field so much between defense and special teams. Lawson also has just six tackles in four games so far. However, he's an exceptional talent and has made some big plays in limited action, so this is all just a taste of things to come next season, when he'll have a major role in the defense.
