Browns' Griffin back at practice, designated for return from IR

Cleveland Browns quarterback Robert Griffin III was back at practice Wednesday after he was designated to return from injured reserve.

Griffin has been out of action since suffering a fractured coracoid bone in his left shoulder in the first week of the season.

The Browns have used a stunning number of quarterbacks since Griffin was sidelined by his injury. Josh McCown, Cody Kessler, Kevin Hogan, Charlie Whitehurst, and Terrelle Pryor have all seen time under center in the subsequent 10 weeks.

Kessler, the latest starter, suffered his second concussion in a month's time in Week 11, forcing the veteran McCown to be tabbed as the starter for this Sunday's game against the New York Giants. If the injury woes or performance issues at the quarterback position continue for Cleveland, it's conceivable Griffin could see some action during the Browns' final five games of the season.

Cleveland is currently 0-11 and at risk of matching the 2008 Detroit Lions for the worst regular-season record in NFL history.

The Browns have 21 days to officially activate Griffin, or he will have to stay on injured reserve.
